About the Event

Philippine Festival came about in 2015 to celebrate the wonderful diversity of the people and culture of the Philippines. For the last four years, the festival has provided real opportunities to connect with the wider community sharing its life through business, music, food and cultural activities.

In the last decade Filipinos have become one of the largest (55,000) skilled migrants in New Zealand. About 5,500 Filipinos live and work in the Wellington region. Bulwagan Foundation sees this as an opportunity to add value to New Zealand’s economy through its works and initiatives implemented in local, national and international communities.

It is the hope of Bulwagan Foundation that Philippine Festival will be a key annual event that will help raise the profile of the Filipinos in New Zealand enhancing awareness of the culture and social aspects of the Philippines. Equally important is that the Filipinos are able to engage and learn from those around them and be able to support each other culturally to be better citizens of the country we now call home.
