A pre-Chistmas concert by the Wellington Filipino Community Choir. The line-up includes original Filipino music (in Filipino and in English), a South American lullaby, a Maori song that was gifted to the choir, a Kiwi Christmas carol and some classics that are truly challenging.

A movie fundraising where tickets were sold out, and donations came in as well from those who couldn’t make it to the movies but were more than happy to contribute towards the cause. Proceeds from this effort will certainly help to ensure the Filipino Community Centre’s continuous operation, and benefit the community at large.

"A time to pray and fast for our Community and the Filipino Community Centre" Hosted by H. E. Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez Did fasting at lunch or earlier then met for Prayer at the "Ang Bahay", the Ambassador's residence at 3PM. There was a break fast at 6PM. "Unless you put prayer with your fasting, there is no need to fast. If it doesn't mean anything to you, it won't mean anything to God." Fasting is not a requirement; it is a choice. It is a vow you choose to make to pursue God on a deeper level. The entire time that you are on a fast you are acknowledging God. When you are felling hungry, empty, and weak, you connect with God without all the clutter. In that way fasting is a time vow. It strengthens your character in every area of your life." - Jentezen Franklin

February 2015, Filipino Community Centre

Mrs Flora Muriel-Nogoy, Chairperson of the Bulwagan Foundation Trust talks about the dream of Filipinos having a Filipino Community Centre in Wellington. The Bulwagan Foundation Trust then was in the process of getting the centre in Cuba Street, Petone, Lower Hutt and invited everyone to be part of building the dream.

This is a fundraising movie fundraiser initiated by the Bulwagan Foundation Trust to raise funds to help alleviate the plight of victims of typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines.

The Filipino community is the third largest skilled migrant community in New Zealand and it has grown exponentially in the last 10 years to about 10,000 in the Wellington region alone. The idea of Filipino Community Centre came from a Filipino youth group leader who believed that the Centre will help “Promote and preserve our heritage so that our children, and our children’s children will be able to celebrate what makes us unique as a people in this city that we now call home.”

"Journey" Transcending Musical Boundaries

01 December 2012, Lower Hutt Horticultural Hall

After a few years of not having a combined Christmas Party with the Filipino Community, the Bulwagan Foundation Trust was asked to organise one in December 2012.  As this is a whole day event and a lot of organisations also made their event on the same day, still  the number of people attended was almost as expected.

The Bulwagan Foundation Trust and Wellington Filipino Community Choir are the teams working behind the Wellington leg of the Philippine Basketball Association Legends New Zealand Tour in 2012.

30 July 2011, St. Joseph Hall, Mt. Victoria, Wellington

It was a meeting with the community leaders regarding the building of the Filipino Community centre.

19 March 2011, Lower Hutt Horticultural Hall

The Bulwagan Foundation Trust participated in the event by hiring a stall to promote the project through the Introduction videoclip created earlier in the year and by selling snacks and coffee as fundraising for the project.

March 2011, Nogoy's Residence

This video clip was created to promote and market the idea of building the Filipino Community Centre in Wellington. Basically, answering the following questions: Who are you and what organisation do you represent? What is Bulwagan Foundation and what do they do? How did it Begin? Why is a Community centre so important? How do you see the centre working for the community? What’s in it for them/ us? The project sounds enormous, how and what can we do to help? 

December 2010, Auckland National Library

A contest of naming the Filipino community centre was conducted. There were lots of entries and the winner was Karl Quirino from Auckland. Although, his "name" was chosen, it was decided by the board of trustees not to use it as it is not suitable for the current centre.

2010, Wellington

The Bulwagan Foundation Trust (BFT) launched its own website and has been updated regularly since then. Later, a facebook page and a youtube account were created.

The Bulwagan Trustees were part of the organising committee for the cultural and pageant night.

This Buwagan Foundation Trust has sponsored a Christmas musical production entitled, "Deck the Mall" created by Claire Cloninger, Curt Cloninger and Don Carson. Music was arranged by Don Carson, David Maddix and Tommy Greer. It was held at "The Street" (9 Hania Street, Mount Victoria) on 25 November 2006.

This event is a combined Christmas celebration by different community organisations. The Bulwagan organised this for the community.

An evening of jazz featuring Viva Sahn, Wellington's jazz diva with Kirsten MacKenzie (Piano), Paul Dyne (Bass) and Roger Sellars (Drums)

June 2005, Karori Girls College, Wellington

Although work had started in 1999, the official launch of the Bulwagan project, which was having a Filipino Community Centre, was made public during the celebration of the Philippine Indepence Day in  2005 at the Karori Girls College. Flora Nogoy presented the project to the Filipino community and encourage everyone to join in building the dream project. There were also survey given to the public and the result was expected and positive. The community still saw the need of having our own centre.

19 December 2004, Lower Hutt Horticultural Hall

In December 1999, the first fundraising, the "Miss Kita Kung Krismas" concert was a success that people were raving about it asking when the next concert will be.   Everyone in the group was busy (personal or helping out in the community activities and one of them was the Filipino reunion in 2002 in Wellington) and others went overseas.  There wasn't a good chance to plan for any activity until this "Paskuhan sa Bulwagan" Christmas event on 19 December 2004.  This was also a good time to re-launch the “bulwagan” project in the form of a fundraising concert, dinner and dance all in one night.
